Noble Corporation is seeking a Marine Technical Project Manager specializing in Electrical Marine Systems to join our team in a hybrid work environment. This role is crucial for the safe and efficient management of marine technical projects, collaborating with Noble's marine technical services, project department, and offshore maintenance teams focused on DP Systems, Power Generation, Thrusters, Marine Electrical Systems, and Environmental Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all projects adhere to the company's safety policies and industry best practices.
  • Support project management in alignment with Noble's Project Management Manual and recognized standards such as PMI.
  • Oversee technical projects in the marine electrical and automation sectors, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality parameters.
  • Provide expert guidance and supervision for upgrades and repairs of marine electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Assist in the planning, budgeting, and execution of marine electrical system initiatives.
  • Communicate with management regarding system upgrades or limitations that may impact safe rig operations, aiming to reduce downtime.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), vendor evaluations, and oversee equipment construction and repair processes as needed.
  • Offer technical consultation for rig shipyard and upgrade projects, including marine system commissioning and decarbonization technology advancements.
  • Engage with external vendors to analyze failures, explore upgrades, and develop maintenance protocols.
  • Collaborate with project, technical, and operational departments to define upgrade options and project scopes.
  • Support projects through thorough review of technical drawings, documentation, and supplier quality audits.
  • Develop and implement major repair methodologies in partnership with the Marine Technical Services team.
  • Consult with the engineering department on machinery upgrades to ensure compliance with testing and repair standards.
  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Stay informed on equipment costs and procure quotes as necessary; conduct Cost Benefit Analysis and Return on Investment assessments as required.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Automation, Power, and DP Systems for both floater and jack-up fleets as needed.
  • Interface with all departments to ensure effective job performance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine/Mechanical Engineering or Electronic/Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years in a technical support role, including at least 5 years in marine technical project management focusing on marine and electrical systems, as well as DP control systems.
  • Alternatively, a Chief Electrical or Electronics Technician Trade School Diploma with 15 years of progressive experience in electronic/electrical control systems related to DP, power generation, and marine operations.
  • Extensive experience with DP2 and DP3 rig control systems, particularly in relation to DP FMEA and Kongsberg or GE power management systems.
  • Proficient in planning and executing technical projects, including maintenance and upgrades of marine systems, while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of Power Generation and Distribution, including HV Switchboards, Transformers, UPS, and Power Management Systems.
  • Experience with Marine DP, Control System Interfaces, and Marine Electronics.
  • Familiarity with Marine deck machinery, safety and environmental systems, and BWTS.
  • Knowledge of Marine Power Electronics Systems such as HV VFD.
  • Understanding of vessel management systems and Fire and Gas detection systems.
  • Awareness of industry standards and regulations including IEC, IEEE, API, IMO, SOLAS, and class regulations.
  • Familiarity with FMEA concepts and their relationship with operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Certifications:
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification is preferred.
  • Other Qualifications:
  • Experience with drilling rig or marine offshore operations.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities, with the ability to guide project and maintenance teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective coordination with teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight of contractors and suppliers involved in projects.
  • Indirect oversight of Technical Section Leaders and Technical Supervisors.
