POSITION SUMMARY:

The Newport Aquarium is seeking a dedicated Guest Experience Specialist to enhance visitor interactions and provide exceptional service. This role is pivotal in ensuring that guests have a memorable and informative experience while visiting our facility.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Uphold the Core Values and Guest Service Standards of Newport Aquarium, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.
  • Engage with guests in a welcoming manner, offering assistance and sharing information about the aquarium's exhibits and activities.
  • Maintain punctuality and adhere to uniform and appearance guidelines while on duty.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of guest service operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across various departments to facilitate seamless communication.
  • Stay informed about aquatic life, special events, and promotions to provide accurate information to guests.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Memorize and deliver engaging tour scripts to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Address guest inquiries, feedback, and concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Assist the animal husbandry team with daily tasks and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Educate guests about marine life and aquarium experiences through presentations and interactions.
  • Learn and apply animal handling techniques as required.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Guest Service Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong public speaking abilities.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays, with a preference for weekday availability.
  • Familiarity with marine life is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • No history of allergies to animals or plants that could hinder job performance.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 25 pounds.
