Job Summary

As the Executive Director of Equity, Social Justice, and Inclusion, you will play a critical role in advancing the San Mateo County Office of Education's commitment to creating a more equitable and just educational environment. Under the direction of the County Superintendent of Schools, you will oversee and advance efforts to increase organization-wide commitment and alignment to our anti-racist paradigm.

You will provide leadership that works to dismantle educational inequities that exist locally, regionally, and across the state. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and have experience working with students, teachers, and administrators at all levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, motivate, and evaluate the performance of a team working toward the advancement of our equity goals
  • Interview and recommend the hiring of employees who share in our vision for equity
  • Accelerate advancement toward achieving equity in education and eliminating opportunity and access gaps
  • Employ best practices in change management and organizational development to support our efforts to lead as an antiracist organization
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related area and Master's degree in a job-related area
  • Three years of job-related experience in education, higher education, adult education, or in organizations that directly partner with education
  • Site, district, or executive level leadership experience preferred
  • Experience coordinating programs and services for culturally-linguistically diverse students and working effectively with students, teachers, and administrators at all levels
  • Experience leading equity, diversity, inclusion, and/or cultural competency initiatives
  • Experience working with state or regional educational equity initiatives or state curriculum/instruction projects
  • Experience in leading data-driven decision-making
