Nursing Unit Leader

Job Summary:
The RN Charge Nurse is a key member of the healthcare team at John Muir Health, responsible for planning, decision-making, and developing the nursing staff. This role requires effective management and coordination of the unit's performance through interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring high-quality patient care, patient safety, and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and decision-making to develop the nursing staff
- Manage and coordinate the performance of the unit through interdisciplinary collaboration
- Contribute to a collaborative working relationship with the nursing unit to provide high-quality patient care and ensure patient safety
- Support the mission, vision, and values of John Muir Health
Requirements:
- BSN – Required (grandfathered in for existing Charge Nurses with ADNs)
- National Certification: Specialty Certifications - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center – Preferred
- 2 years Nursing - Acute Care - Required
- Previous Charge Nurse, Relief Charge Nurse, or related experience required within the last 2 years
- 1000 hours Nursing - Medical/Cardiac or Telemetry - Must be Obtained within last 2 years - Non-core Requirement
- Certifications/Licensures: RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Registered Nursing – Required, BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association – Required, OCBC ONS_ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate - ONS Oncology Nursing Society - NON-CORE – Required within 18 months of hire date or transfer date
Skills:
- Competent to care for oncology and palliative care patients within 3 months
- Competent to care for patients with oncologic emergencies within 12 months
- Meet clinical core qualifications within 18 months
Work Shift: 00:00 - 07:30 No Waive
Pay Range: $111.23 Hourly
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
