Position Overview:
As an integral part of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., the selected candidate will prioritize safety in all engineering activities. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer or SCADA Engineer to enhance our Advanced Electric Distribution Management System (ADM) for a mid-sized utility organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, support, and maintain the Electric Distribution SCADA (DSCADA), ADM, and Outage Management System (OMS) along with associated systems.
• Manage system configuration, including database updates and display maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve system-related issues.
• Understand and support the communication infrastructure of DSCADA.

Minimum Qualifications:
Engineer I: ($69,380 - $86,730)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline.
Engineer II: ($79,760 - $99,700)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline; and
  • Two years of relevant work experience.
Engineer Sr: ($111,240 - $139,050)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline; and
  • Seven years of progressively responsible experience in the energy sector, focusing on utility electric and gas operations, maintenance, design, and project management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Level I/II/Sr:
  • Previous engineering experience in electric utilities, particularly with SCADA systems.
  • Possession of an EI (Engineering Intern) or EIT (Engineering in Training) Certificate.
Level Sr:
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) designation.

Job Responsibilities:

Engineer I: Applies fundamental engineering techniques for entry-level tasks with oversight from senior engineers.
Engineer II: Utilizes standard engineering methods to address challenges, receiving moderate guidance.
Engineer Sr: Employs a wide range of engineering skills, leads projects, and mentors junior engineers.

Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to the design and development of electric utility systems.
  • Experience with SCADA, RTU configurations, and communication systems.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interaction with staff, management, and field personnel.
  • Commitment to safeguarding networks, devices, programs, and data from cyber threats.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Moderate travel (25%) may be necessary.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
