Job Summary

SpaceX is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Development Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our spacecraft development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing novel solutions for composite materials and structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop composite structures and materials for our spacecraft
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement manufacturing processes
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and standards for composite materials and structures
  • Work closely with stress and design engineers to clarify design intent and reverse engineer hardware
  • Develop and execute design-for-manufacture and process improvements to accelerate builds and optimize part quality and yield
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in material science, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or aerospace engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hands-on mechanical or manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years or more of experience problem-solving in a composites production environment
  • Hands-on experience performing composite repairs and NDE testing
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work long hours and weekends when necessary
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
