Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Sensors

SpaceX is a pioneering company that aims to make humanity a multi-planetary species. We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer Sensors to join our team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge sensor systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the hardware design team to drive new designs into the manufacturing phase, ensuring seamless transition from development to production.
  • Provide Design for Testability (DFT) feedback to engineering on printed circuit board, mechanical, harness/fiber, optics, and integration design.
  • Design a production manufacturing environment, including shop floor/cleanroom requirements, floor layout, new process development, equipment, and tooling required to build a wide array of sensor assemblies.
  • Prepare engineering documentation necessary for the transition from development to production, including schematic diagrams, bills of materials, suitable alternate parts lists, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
  • Contribute to design reviews, acting as an expert in design for testability, design for manufacturability, yield improvements, supplier capabilities assessments, quality control, and more.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on PCBA's, optoelectronics, and integrated assemblies.
  • Develop robust supply chain and create initial forecasting for new development projects.
  • Update designs and processes when necessary in response to manufacturing issues, parts obsolescence, and system requirement changes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or equivalent engineering field.
  • 2 years of professional experience in the design or production of electronic hardware systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Demonstrated professional experience providing engineering and manufacturing support for the production of highly complex electrical, optical, and/or mechanical products.
  • Ability to design, validate, and control production processes for assembly and calibration of sensor systems.
  • Experience transitioning products from design to manufacturing as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Experience in fast-paced iterative design environments within the consumer electronics, medical devices, commercial aviation, or automotive industries.
  • Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Altium Designer, and NX/Unigraphics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to present complex information and influence peers.
Additional Requirements:
  • Position may require long hours and weekend work.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.
