About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Stewardship Program Manager to join our team at the State of Washington. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for implementing program objectives, policies, procedures, training, communication, and success metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with divisions to improve data governance processes while ensuring the agency complies with established policies and procedures.
  • Build relationships through clear and active communication to improve the quality of our data by supporting the programs that collect and use it.
  • Manage a team of 4 data stewards working with customers all around the agency.
  • Apply policies approved and directions decided by the Data Governance Board.
  • Help govern data about customers, certifications, finances, administration, and locations.
  • Develop and monitor performance measures so we can tell our story with evidence.
  • Apply the evolving state and federal law of privacy to specific DOL data assets and business practices.

Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of relevant professional work experience in Management Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Library Science, Business, or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience or one year of experience and completion (within the last three (3) years) of all required and recommended supervisory training for a government agency within the past three years.

  • Experience in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, modeling cultural competence.
  • Communicating effectively with diverse individuals and audiences in a variety of formats, and coaching others to do the same.
  • Partnering and collaborating at the management level with internal and external staff and stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing operational plans initiatives.
  • Developing and implementing change initiatives and process improvements.
  • Working with budgets, contracts, and policies.
  • Interpreting and applying laws, rules, and policies.
  • Communicating complex information technology and business topics.
  • Managing change related to technology system and process changes.
  • Providing innovative and effective solutions to issues identified related to data governance.
  • Managing confidential data in a government environment.
  • Managing data protection and accessibility in a government authorizing environment.
  • Certification in a data management discipline such as the following:
    • Certified Information Professional (CIP).
    • Certified Information Privacy Professional and Manager (CIPP, CIPM).
    • Information Governance Professional (IGP).
    • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
    • Green belt certification or demonstrated ability to implement Lean principles in an organization.
    • Certification or demonstrated competence in organizational change management.
