About the Role

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Field Operations Specialist/Construction Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our construction services group, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Testing and Inspections: Perform field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt to determine compliance with project specifications.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain specialized equipment designed to collect data from construction materials, including nuclear density gauges, penetrometers, and hand tools.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Interact with construction site personnel, engineers, and state and federal representatives while presenting yourself as a professional representative of the company.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Write daily reports, read and interpret project drawings and specifications, and enter data related to job tasks.
  • Project Support: Provide support to the project manager while on project sites.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of field experience working on commercial construction projects performing inspections or testing, including earthwork inspections, concrete sampling, pavement testing, bearing grade inspections, structural steel inspections, and concrete masonry unit inspections.
  • Education: Minimum of high school education.
  • Skills: Ability to interpret project plans and specifications, strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, and ability to write accurate and concise field reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: NICET, ICC, and ACI certifications.
  • State Certification: WVDOH certification.
