Position Overview:


The Regional Medical Executive Officer is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for steering management, leadership, and strategic initiatives to ensure the provision of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare aligned with CommonSpirit Health's mission to better serve community needs.

This role focuses on enhancing clinical outcomes, promoting evidence-based practices, spearheading safety initiatives, and overseeing quality assurance efforts in collaboration with the Medical Group.

The Regional Medical Executive Officer will manage physician credentialing and performance evaluation, optimizing the quality of care provided to patients while acting as a liaison among physicians, administration, and community organizations.

Providing ongoing guidance to market and facility medical leaders, the Executive Officer ensures compliance with corporate policies and standards set by various accrediting bodies.

Collaboration with counterparts within CommonSpirit is essential, as is working closely with the Leadership Team on all regional matters, ensuring clinical excellence through the development, implementation, and assessment of the Mountain Region's clinical effectiveness processes.


Job responsibilities necessitate a comprehensive understanding of specialized principles and practices related to healthcare management, enabling the evaluation and formulation of actionable recommendations for enhancing healthcare delivery systems and organizational efficiency.

Additionally, strong leadership skills in business planning, process enhancement, budget management, and personnel oversight are required. Performance improvement initiatives will encompass various processes, necessitating the ability to identify synergies and opportunities in clinical outcomes, cost management, patient safety, satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:
In addition to embodying humankindness in the workplace, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • MD or DO degree with Board Certification in a medical or surgical specialty
  • A minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a multi-hospital system or integrated delivery network as a CMO or VP of Medical Affairs
  • Unrestricted medical practice license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Management degree (MBA, MHA, or similar)
  • Experience with employed physician groups

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work involving prolonged periods of sitting and the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

Pay Range:
$466,302 - $543,997 annually.
