Job Summary

The Town of Castle Rock is seeking a highly skilled Aquatic Training Specialist to join our team. As a Lifeguard Trainer, you will be responsible for training and certifying lifeguards in accordance with American Red Cross guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for lifeguards, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and proficiency.
  • Conduct regular training sessions, providing instruction and feedback to students in both classroom and pool settings.
  • Evaluate student progress, adhering to American Red Cross guidelines for certification.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and training outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatics Inservice Training Coordinator to ensure seamless communication and coordination of training activities.
  • Participate in regular inservice training sessions, staying up-to-date on the latest techniques and best practices in lifeguarding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to support the success of the Aquatics program.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience as a lifeguard and/or instructor preferred.
  • Must hold current American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid, CPR/Professional Rescuer, AED, and Administering Emergency Oxygen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to students and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team to achieve program goals.
  • Physical stamina to perform duties in a pool environment, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a pool environment, with exposure to temperature extremes, varying weather conditions, chemicals, and water.
  • May require occasional use of personal equipment, such as a vehicle or cell phone, in the course of employment.
