Coordinator for Veterans Court Peer Mentorship

Our courts and probation departments work collaboratively to facilitate impartial and timely resolution of disputes, support families, litigants, and victims, promote client rehabilitation, and foster meaningful community involvement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Job Classification Overview:
This role provides comprehensive support akin to the Veterans Court Peer Mentor Coordinator I and acts as the state-wide authority for veteran programs. Responsibilities include establishing state-wide standards and objectives, serving as a resource and advisor for fellow Coordinators across the judiciary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The frequency and percentage of time dedicated to each task may vary based on specific assignments.
- Deliver individualized case management for Veteran Court clients, encompassing support services in education, employment, and housing. Facilitate connections between clients and third-party peer mentoring partners, and engage clients in Veteran pro-social activities aligned with their personalized case plans.
- Conduct interviews with applicants to gather data for suitable Mentee matches, including performing a Risk and Need Triage assessment.
- Assist the Problem-Solving Court Coordinator in scheduling new client admissions. Collaborate closely with the Veterans Justice Outreach Representative and Probation Officer to formulate initial case plans for new mentees.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment efforts. Ensure mentors complete all necessary State of Colorado background checks and receive training in best practices. Organize orientation training and develop online training tools and resources for mentors.
- Monitor new mentors during their probationary period to guarantee effective and appropriate support for mentees.
- Supervise third-party mentor service providers to ensure adherence to best practices and key components of peer mentor/mentee relationships. Participate in meetings and provide constructive feedback and recommendations.
- Manage the Veteran Court Peer Mentor Corps. Uphold the peer mentors' code of conduct by facilitating weekly meetings, gathering input and feedback, and ensuring all mentors fulfill training requirements.
- Engage with program and community stakeholders, educating them about available support services. Participate in and present at state-wide Veteran service organization meetings, conferences, and focus groups. Act as a liaison between mentors and public sector communities.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.

This position may involve providing guidance and oversight to other employees. Responsibilities may include overseeing work quality, training, instructing, and assigning tasks. The work performed by most employees in this role is complex.

This role may also involve evaluating customer satisfaction, fostering cooperative relationships, and utilizing resources to enhance customer satisfaction continuously. Limited Direction Received
Employees typically perform assignments based on their judgment, seeking supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with minimal oversight, and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance is evaluated periodically, and the impact of actions is moderate.
Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced Level
This role requires advanced skills and extensive knowledge of the work. The incumbent can manage complex tasks and interpret intricate nuances related to various job aspects. Recognized by peers within the organization for technical expertise, the potential impact on the organization is comprehensive.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
May involve responsibilities related to billing, collection, and/or accounting of funds. May also include handling and balancing cash.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
OR
Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.
Work Experience:
3 to 5 years of experience in a social work-related field.
Licenses and Certifications:
None required.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work—exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, with a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly needing to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work typically involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
Work Environment:
