Aquatics Specialist I Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Aquatics Specialist I to join our team at the City of Reno. As a key member of our aquatics staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our pool patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guard the pool during facility use and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Enter the water to rescue patrons in distress and administer first aid as required.
  • Enforce policies, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all pool users.
  • Clean and perform light maintenance around the pool, locker rooms, and storage areas.
  • Inspect facilities to ensure safe conditions and prepare supplies for programs.
  • Under direction, teach swimming, water safety, and diving, and assist with special events.

Requirements:

  • Age: 15
  • Certifications: Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid
  • Preferred Qualifications: Water Safety Instructor

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to emergency situations, and interact with pool patrons in a professional and courteous manner. The successful candidate will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
