Aquatics Specialist II Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of facility patrons during weekend and evening hours. The Aquatics Specialist II will enforce policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing facility conduct, guard the pool during use, and respond to emergencies by entering the water to rescue patrons, administering first aid, and calling Emergency Medical Services as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor facility and staff during weekend and evening hours
  • Enforce policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing facility conduct
  • Guard the pool during facility use
  • Respond to emergencies by entering the water to rescue patrons, administering first aid, and calling Emergency Medical Services as needed
  • Oversee water safety, swimming, and diving operations
  • Assist with special events
  • Plan daily program activities/schedules
  • Assist in instructing new employees on facility operations

Requirements:

  • Age: 16
  • One year of high school
  • One year of paid lifeguard experience
  • Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of paid lifeguard experience
  • Water Safety Instructor, Certified Pool Operator certifications

Working Conditions:

  • Conveys and exchanges verbal and written information
  • Tasks require physical condition necessary for walking, standing, sitting, and performing swimming rescues
  • May come into contact with pool chemicals
