Your Role

The Aircraft Systems Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of Viasat's services at various airports. This position involves performing maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and ensuring the return to service of the Viasat Broadband System installed on customer aircraft. Adherence to company and airline manuals is essential, and a strong understanding of commercial aircraft systems, particularly in electrical and avionics troubleshooting, is required. You will tackle complex assignments that demand significant judgment, initiative, and technical expertise to resolve issues and propose effective solutions.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Viasat's Customer Support Center and Planning teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all maintenance and preventative maintenance protocols in line with company, airline, and FAA regulations.
  • Be prepared for assignments at various airports, which may require extensive travel.
  • Conduct diagnostic checks on Viasat systems aboard customer aircraft.
  • Provide training on Viasat systems to maintenance vendors and airline staff.
  • Maintain and ensure the availability of all necessary tools and equipment for Viasat system maintenance.
  • Assist the Line Maintenance Manager in enhancing maintenance practices and preventative measures for the Viasat system.
  • Mentor colleagues to develop their understanding of Viasat systems.
  • Offer constructive feedback to vendors and airline partners regarding Viasat systems and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Occasionally respond to field maintenance requests.
  • Perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, particularly in aircraft line maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Proficient in documenting maintenance activities with a focus on precision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and surpassing customer expectations.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Possession of Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification.
  • This position is subject to FAA safety regulations, including participation in a Drug-Alcohol program.
  • Shift differentials are available for evening and overnight shifts.
  • Flexibility in working hours is necessary, as this role does not follow a standard Line Maintenance schedule.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, both domestically and occasionally internationally.
  • Proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport is essential.
Additional Skills
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and logbook sign-off procedures.
  • An associate degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $49.57. At Viasat, we consider various factors when determining compensation, including the role's scope and your experience. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills. Additional incentives may be included as part of the overall compensation package, alongside a comprehensive range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
