Position Overview:

The Health and Safety Advisor for Projects at Talisman Energy is responsible for providing expert guidance and assurance on a variety of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) matters. This role is integral to the successful execution of project activities, ensuring compliance with safety management protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

The Health and Safety Advisor will support the project team by offering advice on all facets of Health, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Contractor HSE Performance Management throughout the project lifecycle.

The Advisor will ensure that the project team adheres to the established HSE requirements and provides assurance that all safety measures are adequately implemented to meet project objectives.

Main Duties:
  • Implement the HSE strategy and management plan for the project.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory HSE requirements and relevant regulations.
  • Identify HSE risks and hazards, and implement mitigation measures to ensure they are as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
  • Monitor and enhance project performance in line with established targets.
  • Evaluate contract requirements and coordinate with contractors to align HSE systems and expectations.
  • Manage external HSE resources and contractors effectively.
  • Organize HSE training programs in accordance with the project’s training matrix.
  • Review and update induction programs for new personnel and visitors.
  • Conduct Project HSE reviews and Peer Reviews in line with governance processes.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to communicate HSE expectations to contractors.
  • Audit contractor performance to ensure compliance with deliverables.
  • Engage in various HSE activities, including developing procedures, conducting risk assessments, and participating in safety audits.
  • Visit project sites to foster relationships and promote HSE improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:

A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is preferred. Candidates should possess demonstrated expertise in:
  • Developing HSE components for major projects in the oil and gas sector or similar industries.
  • Contract evaluation and ongoing contractor performance management.
  • Operational HSE knowledge, particularly regarding topsides, subsea facilities, pipelines, and controls.
  • Construction Site HSE Management with an understanding of CDM principles.
