Position Overview

AECOM is on the lookout for a seasoned Safety Process Consultant to join our West Region team. The chosen candidate will become a vital member of AECOM's EHS + Air practice within the Environment Business Line.

The primary focus of this group is to assist clients with their Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plan (RMP), and Health and Safety (H&S) regulatory compliance requirements across various sectors including federal, municipal, and private.

The successful candidate will be tasked with:

  • Implementing PSM, RMP, and H&S initiatives for clients in the consulting sector.
  • Contributing to EHS business development activities, including crafting technical and cost proposals to expand our PSM, RMP, and H&S compliance services with both existing and prospective clients.
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with clients to foster retention and growth.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in chemical engineering and process safety, demonstrating proficiency in:
  • Conducting or engaging in Process Hazard Analyses of various types, such as What-If, HazOp, HazID, and/or FMEA.
  • Participating in PSM and H&S compliance audits and inspections at diverse sites to identify potential deficiencies or hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Possessing comprehensive knowledge of regulations including OSHA 1910 (including Subpart H, Subpart N, Subpart O) and EPA 40 CFR 68.
  • Advising on enhancements in processes, designs, procedures, and operational equipment to mitigate hazards.
  • Designing and delivering PSM and H&S-related training for client employees, covering emergency preparedness, PSM training, mechanical integrity training, and Management of Change (MoC) training.
  • Providing on-site PSM and H&S support services for various clients.
  • Overseeing PSM and H&S projects, including budget formulation, proposal drafting, technical oversight of project execution, and invoicing.
  • Mentoring junior professionals in PSM and H&S to facilitate project execution.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience in PSM survey and H&S regulatory compliance.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 2 weeks per month for PSM or H&S audits.
  • A valid US Driver's License and a verified pre-employment driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in chemical engineering.
  • 6 years of experience in PSM survey and H&S regulatory compliance.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Process Safety Auditor (CPSA) credentials.
