Position Overview

ERM is expanding its Infrastructure Service line within the M&A division and seeks a seasoned leader to join as a Technical Consultant. In this role, you will collaborate with Partners across the M&A team to provide Transaction Advisory Services to financial institutions and infrastructure operators. Your responsibilities will include engaging with infrastructure funds, private equity firms, investment banks, and energy companies to deliver comprehensive technical due diligence services for buy-side, sell-side, and project financing transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of proposals, which will encompass the development of our corporate profile, project scopes, timelines, and commercial agreements.
  • Lead or assist in projects that evaluate the technical, operational, and business plans related to proposed investments in infrastructure assets.
  • Coordinate essential project deliverables, including Q&A submissions, management sessions, client meetings, and report finalization.
  • Collaborate effectively with technical teams within ERM and engage subcontractors identified as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure successful project execution and client engagement.
  • Participate in internal initiatives aimed at enhancing the functionality of the infrastructure service line.

Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this position at ERM, candidates should demonstrate the following essential and desirable skills:

Essential Skills

  • A robust academic foundation in engineering disciplines (e.g., Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering).
  • 6 to 8 years of experience in technical consulting, engineering, or operational roles within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and opportunities in technical documentation, site assessments, and discussions regarding asset integrity, operational performance, and management systems.
  • Exemplary organizational skills, self-motivation, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality work and ensuring that both personal and team standards are met.
  • Advanced report writing and presentation capabilities, with experience in client-facing roles.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience managing external client projects.
  • Ability to lead complex project deliveries, coordinating multiple workstreams into cohesive client deliverables.
  • Prior experience in technical due diligence is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Corporate finance qualifications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for site assessments as needed.
  • Familiarity with current capital and operational expense considerations for engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of decarbonization strategies and technologies.
  • Experience in reviewing EPC contracts, financial models, designs, specifications, and budgets for industrial projects.
