PeaceHealth is currently seeking a Food Service Assistant - Kitchen for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The compensation for this role is $24.93, with the hiring rate influenced by various factors such as education, training, experience, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Position Overview

The Food Service Assistant plays a vital role in the preparation, service, and delivery of food products, ensuring compliance with HACCP guidelines for safe food handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, mix, assemble, portion, serve, and store food in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment, wash pots, and perform thorough cleaning duties while adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
  • Transport food, supplies, and waste as directed.
  • May serve as a cashier in the cafeteria, managing the cash register.
  • Follow guidelines for setting up and cleaning assigned stations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year preferred: Previous work experience in food service.
  • Preferred: Experience in retail food service.
Credentials
  • Required: Food Handlers Card - Washington.
Skills
  • Strong customer service skills (Required).
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices (Required).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members (Required).
  • Effective communication skills to perform job functions safely and efficiently (Required).
Working Conditions

Lifting Requirements:
  • Continuous movement within the work area. Frequent lifting up to 22 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and carrying up to 20 lbs. Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping.
  • Food service assistants will experience continuous movement, with frequent lifting up to 12 lbs and occasional lifting up to 44 lbs.
Environmental Conditions:
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment.
  • Exposure to heated surfaces (oven) and water/liquid.
Mental/Visual Requirements:
  • Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
