Overview
The Facilities Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring a hygienic and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through various cleaning and maintenance tasks. Duties may differ daily based on departmental and hospital requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Comprehends and adheres to the established Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors of the organization.
- Receives daily assignments and reports to designated areas.
- Selects suitable cleaning agents and supplies, organizes service carts, or prepares necessary equipment and solutions.
- Follows mandated health protocols while executing assigned tasks.
- Cleans and maintains equipment at the end of each shift to ensure optimal functioning, and informs the supervisor of any required repairs.
- Reports any mechanical issues or adverse conditions observed in any facility area to a supervisor or utilizes established reporting mechanisms.
- Participates in emergency procedures, executing assigned tasks as needed.
- Performs irregular duties as requested or assigned.
- Exhibits sound judgment in executing various responsibilities.
- Prioritizes daily tasks effectively.
- Completes assigned duties within designated timeframes.
- Operates autoclave equipment, if assigned, in accordance with prescribed methods for proper medical waste treatment.
- Collaborates with boiler mechanics to ensure compliance with safety regulations when operating the autoclave.
- Maintains hospital grounds, including raking leaves, disposing of refuse, spreading salt, and assisting with snow removal as required.
- Manages all aspects of cleaning spills involving patients, visitors, and staff, including liquids, food substances, bodily fluids, and other materials.
- Empties linen hampers and disposes of soiled linens in designated areas as required by departmental needs.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
No formal experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
One year of experience in customer service is strongly preferred.
Core Competencies
Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of hospital personnel; must communicate effectively with employees, patients, visitors, and staff.
Ability to adapt to varying situations and assignments.
Must be capable of completing assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods; the position requires bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to perform moderately heavy work, involving pushing, pulling, or lifting, with considerable walking and standing. Manual dexterity is required for tasks such as floor maintenance and moving furniture.
- Must be able to perform routine repetitive tasks and follow written and oral instructions. The incumbent must also complete assigned responsibilities with limited supervision.
- May be exposed to chemicals necessary for task completion. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may encounter are documented in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database, accessible through the hospital's Intranet site.

Salary Request: $31,443.17-$36,009.48
The salary range listed is a good faith estimate of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position and may be modified in the future based on various factors.
