Position Overview

The Facilities Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through various cleaning and maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the hospital's performance standards, policies, and expected behaviors.
  • Receives daily assignments and reports to designated areas.
  • Selects appropriate cleaning supplies and prepares necessary equipment and solutions.
  • Follows health and safety guidelines while performing assigned duties.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment at the end of each shift, reporting any necessary repairs to the supervisor.
  • Reports any mechanical issues or unsafe conditions observed in any facility area to a supervisor.
  • Participates in emergency procedures as required.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in prioritizing daily responsibilities.
  • Completes assigned tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Operates autoclave equipment as assigned, ensuring proper treatment of medical waste.
  • Collaborates with maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with safety regulations when operating autoclave equipment.
  • Maintains hospital grounds, including seasonal tasks such as leaf raking, refuse collection, and snow removal.
  • Handles all aspects of cleaning spills involving various substances, including liquids and bodily fluids.
  • Empties linen hampers and disposes of soiled linens according to departmental needs.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • No formal experience is necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role.

Core Competencies:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of hospital personnel and communicate effectively with employees, patients, and visitors.
  • Adaptability to various situations and assignments.
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods; position requires bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be capable of performing moderately heavy work, including pushing, pulling, and lifting, with significant walking and standing.
  • Requires manual dexterity for tasks such as cleaning and moving furniture.
  • May be exposed to chemicals necessary for cleaning tasks; hazardous chemicals are documented in the hospital's Safety Data Sheet database.

All populations, including but not limited to:

  • Neonatal (birth – 28 days)
  • Infants (29 days – less than 1 year)
  • Pediatric (1 – 12 years)
  • Adolescents (13 – 17 years)
  • Adults (18 – 64 years)
  • Geriatric (> 65 years)
  • Bariatric patients with weight-related comorbidities
  • Non-patient care population

Salary Range: $31,443.17 - $36,009.48
