The Industrial Engineer II – Continuous Improvement plays a crucial role in enhancing our operational efficiency and facilitating growth opportunities for our clients, particularly in packaging solutions.

This position involves conducting mathematical analyses to support engineering recommendations aimed at operational enhancements. The engineer will lead Kaizen events to minimize waste within our processes.

Responsibilities include updating facility layouts and assisting in the design of material handling equipment, storage media, process designs, and conducting slotting and pick path analyses.

Additional outputs encompass capacity planning with identified constraints, warehouse utilization assessments, and labor modeling along with staffing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage in the analysis of client data to identify order profiles, appropriate storage media applications, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, and perform ABC analysis.

Support Operations leadership by generating reports that provide insights into various aspects of operational efficiency, thereby promoting continuous improvement.

Execute detailed engineering for building and operational modifications, transitioning designs from conceptual stages to comprehensive detailed designs ready for implementation. This includes performing data analyses, specifying materials, and producing final AutoCAD layouts that fit within the selected facility.

Participate in scope confirmation sessions with clients and/or the Operations team; identify and document changes to scope as they arise, ensuring proper escalation.

Prepare engineering documentation that outlines solutions and detailed operational concepts, such as storage and shipping capacities, zoning, slotting, and waving, while facilitating reviews with key stakeholders including engineering peers, WMS Implementation, and operations teams.

Contribute to the creation and/or updating of WMS configuration files, including all necessary locations for slotting, zoning, sequences, put-away, and picking profiles for the facility, as well as preparing slotting files and/or tools.

Oversee material handling vendors throughout the process, including scheduling, permitting, installation, commissioning, and punch lists, while validating all equipment installations and modifications, including testing of automated material handling systems.
Other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SQL is essential.
Strong computer skills with expertise in Microsoft Office Suite are required.
Experience in 3PL warehousing, distribution centers, or fulfillment operations is preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.

Capable of effectively communicating process and technical concepts to diverse audiences, ranging from entry-level warehouse staff to executive management.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
Effective communication of relevant project information to management and clients is essential.
Willingness to travel up to 30% is required.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee frequently needs to sit, reach with hands and arms, and engage in verbal communication.

Regular use of hands for tasks such as handling or feeling is necessary. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is typically exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
