Join Our Team as a Financial Economist

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Economist to join our team at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). As a Financial Economist, you will play a critical role in developing economic analyses of rules and standards, conducting post-implementation reviews, and developing predictive econometric models to support the PCAOB's strategic initiatives.

About the Role

The Financial Economist will work closely with staff in other offices and divisions to develop economic analyses of rules and standards, post-implementation review reports, and predictive econometric models. You will be responsible for presenting analysis and findings to internal and external audiences, identifying opportunities to enhance the quality of the PCAOB's economic analysis, and engaging with outside experts in academia and industry to further strengthen the PCAOB's understanding of auditing and its impact in capital markets or econometric modeling capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop economic analyses of rules and standards, conduct post-implementation reviews, and develop predictive econometric models to support the PCAOB's strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with staff in other offices and divisions on the development of economic analyses of rules and standards, post-implementation review reports, and predictive econometric models.
  • Present analysis and findings to internal and external audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the quality of the PCAOB's economic analysis, post-implementation reviews, or econometric models.
  • Engage with outside experts in academia and industry to further strengthen the PCAOB's understanding of auditing and its impact in capital markets or econometric modeling capabilities.
Qualifications

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate with a Ph.D. in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field. You should have expertise in conducting empirical research related to auditing, accounting, or financial markets, or developing econometric/statistical models for prediction and causal inference. You should also have outstanding collaborative skills and the ability to promote collaboration by unifying teams, setting common goals, and incentivizing collaborative behavior.
