Job Summary

The European Department at the International Monetary Fund has an opening in its Other Advanced Economies (OA) Unit for an experienced economist to work on Israel.

Israel is an open economy with a dynamic high-tech sector driving growth, independent monetary policy, and a developed financial sector with sophisticated policymakers.

The economy is strongly impacted by the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza, which entails severe economic disruption, uncertainty, and large fiscal costs.

The selected candidate will lead a specific sector, prepare analytical projects that underpin staff advice, and contribute to policy discussions, including during the Article IV consultations.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities for cross-country analytical work and/or to participate in department-wide analytical projects.

Requirements

In addition to the qualifications set forth in the job standards, the successful candidate should have:

  • Proven analytical and drafting skills.
  • Knowledge of Fund policies and procedures.
  • Strong organizing skills and adaptability to meet tight deadlines and carry a substantial workload.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills to foster effective work relations with authorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
