Job Summary

Schafer Industries is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to lead our HR initiatives and support our business objectives. As an HR Manager, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of Human Resources, including recruitment, selection, leadership support, employee relations, workforce planning, performance management, training, compensation, and benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct daily Human Resources activities for two of Schafer's manufacturing facilities.
  • Partner with leaders to provide HR services in support of business objectives.
  • Evaluate people challenges, work with leaders to determine effective resolutions, and provide support in addressing all people-related matters.
  • Develop and conduct training (or secure external resources) for HR compliance and to improve effectiveness in business areas such as leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication skills, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with HR team members and hiring leaders to plan and conduct new employee orientation based on site-specific needs.
  • Investigate employee relations matters, document results, and implement relative actions.
  • Prepare or update position descriptions, policies, procedures, employee handbooks and supplements, etc. based on ever-evolving business needs.
  • Support and assist with administering performance review and merit increase process.
  • Support and assist with benefits administration and open enrollment activities.
  • Recommend HR budget for assigned site(s); track expenditures and ensure accountability for performing at or favorable to budget.
  • Negotiate with and contract outside suppliers for applicable services.
  • Represent Company at hearings, investigations, and audits.
  • Represent the Company as necessary in community relations activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Management or equivalent field required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in human resources in positions with increasing responsibility.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing/industrial environment with hourly employees required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • HR Certification through HRCI or SHRM strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong capabilities in the following areas:

  • Developing, mentoring, coaching, and disciplining employees
  • Communicating effectively with all different types of people with varying levels of understanding
  • Collaborating with all key stakeholders
  • Aligning HR objectives with the business
  • Managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms (ADP Vantage is a plus) and employer timekeeping systems.
  • Experience preferred in all Human Resources Management disciplines to include employee relations, HR compliance, policy administration, compensation and benefits, performance management, training, team building and leadership development, workplace planning, recruitment and on-boarding of employees.
  • Experience leading and/or partnering with the Environmental, Health and Safety function.
