Role Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Infection Prevention Officer to support the execution, assessment, and enhancement of the Infection Control Programs at Emory Hospitals and The Emory Clinic. Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating initiatives to identify and mitigate the risks associated with infection transmission in designated areas. This encompasses problem identification, data collection and analysis, process improvement, policy management, outcome evaluation, and educational efforts.
  • Engaging as a member of the Infection Control Committee(s) and Clinical Pathway Teams, as well as participating in various committees or task groups across the organization.
  • Overseeing the creation and regular review of Infection Control standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and organizational regulations.
  • Conducting data analysis to identify significant patterns or relationships related to infections and to detect notable variations in processes or outcomes.
  • Regularly assessing and investigating clinical infections and associated risks in alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Performing patient care practice and environmental assessments, providing recommendations for corrective actions to management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program or possession of a degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Public Health, Clinical Microbiology).
  • Current nursing licensure in the state of Georgia for RNs.
  • Recent graduates of Master of Public Health (MPH) programs will be considered.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required within two years of employment.
