Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Infection Control Coordinator who will play a crucial role in the ongoing enhancement, execution, assessment, and refinement of the Infection Control Programs at Emory Hospitals and The Emory Clinic. In alignment with the objectives of the Infection Control Department, this individual will:

  • Organize initiatives aimed at identifying and mitigating the risks associated with the acquisition and transmission of infections within designated focus areas. This includes problem identification and management, data collection and analysis, process improvement, policy management, outcome evaluation, and educational efforts.
  • Liaise with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local health departments, and other health organizations for the reporting and investigation of infectious disease cases and clusters, as well as necessary reporting on agents and disease cases.
  • Analyze data to identify significant relationships or patterns related to infections and to detect noteworthy variations in processes or outcomes.
  • Compile reports on infection control initiatives and improvement strategies to fulfill organizational requirements and adhere to relevant regulations in designated focus areas.
  • Collaborate with Employee Occupational Health Services to identify and minimize the risks of infection transmission among healthcare personnel.
  • Review, recommend, and maintain educational materials related to infection control in the Learning Resource Center.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program or possession of a Bachelor's degree.
  • A Master's degree in Public Health is preferred.
  • Registered Nurses must hold a current license in the state of Georgia.
  • A minimum of two years of recent healthcare experience (within the last five years), including at least one year of clinical infection control experience, is required.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is mandatory.
