Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role within the finance department, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. This position is essential for ensuring the accurate maintenance and processing of financial records, including revenue, expenses, and balance sheet accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare journal entries for a variety of transactions across multiple entities.
- Conduct month-end cash reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor the status of invoice approvals and payments, proactively following up with relevant parties to ensure timely processing.
- Verify the correct general ledger coding for outgoing payments.
- Update reconciliations of restricted funds to accurately reflect payments made.

- Review all expenses charged to credit cards, ensuring proper general ledger coding and documentation are maintained.
- Assess staff expense reports for compliance and accuracy.
- Supervise the accounting associate role, providing guidance and support.
- Assist in the monthly closing process, including cash reconciliations.
- Collaborate with external auditors during interim and annual audits.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the finance department and the mission of the Democratic National Committee.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of general accounting practices.
- Proficient in data entry and financial management.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- Excellent time management capabilities.
- Commitment to confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills across various platforms.
- Proficient in spreadsheet software; experience with Sage Intacct and automated accounts payable systems is preferred.

Compensation:
The starting salary for the Senior Accountant position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt role that may require occasional weekend work.
