Job Summary:

As a Medical Office Supervisor at UofL Health, you will provide leadership and guidance to our patient care staff, overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of our medical practice. This role requires a strong focus on supervision, guidance, and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise medical assistants' daily activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor tasks for completion and timeliness, maintaining a high level of productivity and organization.
  • Fulfill clinical roles as needed, providing support to the team and ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Resolve patient complaints in a professional and empathetic manner, maintaining a positive patient experience.
  • Monitor lunch schedules and coverage, ensuring adequate staffing levels at all times.
  • Train new hires, providing comprehensive onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Evaluate staff competencies, identifying areas for growth and development to enhance overall performance.
  • Monitor patient flow, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, playing an active role in establishing and coordinating patient care.
  • Utilize electronic medical records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Manage inventory and supplies, maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Perform opening and closing duties in the manager's absence, ensuring continuity of operations.
  • Exhibit friendly and helpful behavior, providing exceptional customer service to patients and colleagues alike.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is required, with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Three years' supervisory experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support, with the ability to maintain certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to use electronic medical records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Effective listening skills, critical thinking skills, and decisive judgment, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated, dependable, and professional team player, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to blood, body tissue, or fluids (Category A), and hazardous materials and dust.
  • Position may be stressful and demanding, requiring a high level of adaptability and resilience.
