Position Title: Surgical Care Technician, Trauma Unit

Overview:

The Surgical Care Technician operates under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse and plays a vital role within the healthcare team.

In collaboration with licensed nursing staff, the Surgical Care Technician executes a range of essential tasks related to patient care. This includes delivering direct patient assistance, supporting activities of daily living, monitoring patient conditions, ensuring a hygienic and secure environment, facilitating patient transport, and performing additional related responsibilities.

To excel in this role, Surgical Care Technicians must demonstrate compassion and possess strong communication and nursing skills to effectively support patients.


Educational Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Relevant experience is mandatory.


Professional Experience:

At least six months of experience as a Surgical Care Technician I or comparable clinical experience, as outlined in the CORE competencies for Surgical Care Technician II, is required. Candidates should have completed or be enrolled in a Surgical Care Technician II program or be student nurses who have successfully finished medical/surgical clinical rotations and coursework.


Certifications:

Current BLS certification is required.


Additional Qualifications:

A minimum of six educational hours pertinent to the current role is expected.
