Role Overview
The Finance team within the Security Business Unit serves as a vital partner to the Business Unit President and their leadership team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Sales Finance, the Lead Financial Strategist plays an essential role in our financial planning and reporting activities, delivering comprehensive analysis to the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team while collaborating closely with Sales Vice Presidents and the Sales Finance team. This position is instrumental in pinpointing profit enhancement opportunities and driving revenue growth that surpasses market expectations. The individual will act as a strategic ally for the Sales Organization, providing a unique opportunity to engage with executive leadership and cross-functional teams. This role will often represent finance on key core teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate, evaluate, and report on the annual operational plan alongside monthly forecasts for North American customer accounts and sales-related expenditures.
- Conduct thorough analysis of sales figures, allowances, and Selling, General & Administrative (SG&A) expenses at month-end to ensure timely and relevant insights for decision-making in sales and finance.
- Assess proposed pricing strategies and promotional activities, including both incremental and fully allocated analyses of significant new promotions; evaluate price adjustments and their implications for future performance.
- Analyze price sensitivity for major promotions and recommend pricing strategies/programs to maximize sales and profitability.
- Facilitate M&A integration efforts to enhance and streamline operational processes.
- Support the sales team with various ad hoc requests as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly reports and engage in various departmental projects and assignments as appropriate.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance or Analytical roles is required; 7+ years is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; moderate proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Access, and Word is expected.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively engage with a diverse range of personnel. The ability to teach, motivate, and persuade individuals across the organization is a critical skill for this role.
- Strong analytical capabilities and a deep understanding of financial concepts are required, along with the ability to convey these concepts to others. A solid grasp of accounting principles and the ability to investigate variances between actual and expected results is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in supporting sales teams and financial planning processes.
- Familiarity with Oracle EBS, HFM, Essbase, and Tableau is advantageous.
