Our company, established in 2003, is dedicated to providing a diverse range of natural pet food options for dogs and cats, including freeze-dried raw, frozen raw, kibble, wet food, and treats.
As the Product Innovation Lead at Stella & Chewy's, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our brand through innovative product experiences. We seek an individual who excels in long-term brand strategy, consumer insights, and new product development. In this position, you will manage and implement an exciting multi-channel and international product pipeline, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee innovation projects from concept to launch utilizing the StageGateTM process, including idea generation, project scope definition, feasibility assessment, and product finalization.
- Stay informed on market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities to uncover innovation opportunities, consistently gathering and analyzing data for insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, project management, quality assurance, operations, R&D, regulatory, and finance, to effectively support innovation initiatives and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Work closely with R&D throughout the new product development lifecycle to provide guidance on product formulations and testing.
- Manage detailed deliverables related to the creative execution of new products, including timelines, technical documentation, and packaging proofs to ensure timely delivery with internal and external partners.
- Conduct analyses to ensure opportunities meet financial objectives through pricing, positioning, forecasting, revenue, and margin expectations.
- Assist in the creation and management of our new product pipeline for both domestic and international markets, including identifying, researching, sizing, and validating ideas.
- Monitor progress against established goals and objectives, identify potential risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies as necessary.
- Develop compelling, insight-driven internal and external presentations to support product sell-in, marketing transitions, and training.
- Support the optimization of the innovation process and contribute to the development of systematic methods to enhance cross-functional effectiveness and expedite time to market.
- 5+ years of experience in brand/product management, innovation, or product development within the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry; experience in the pet industry is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a related field is required; an MBA is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with data sources such as Nielsen and Stackline is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading new product initiatives from concept to commercialization.
- A strong blend of strategic thinking and analytical/data-driven skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects concurrently, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
