Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an Estimator who will play a crucial role in generating precise and timely estimates for HVAC and Plumbing systems. This position involves collaborating with suppliers to compile accurate cost assessments aligned with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the established estimating protocols and methodologies.
- Examine project plans and specifications thoroughly.
- Conduct computerized bid evaluations by the required deadlines, including detailed equipment lists.
- Draft scopes of work as necessary and identify any unique conditions.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, conduct site visits, and complete site visit documentation.
- Perform digital takeoffs for project requirements.
- Engage with trade superintendents on projects as directed by the supervisor.
- Reach out to vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and comprehensive scope coverage.
- Assess incoming scopes from vendors and subcontractors for adherence to contract stipulations.
- Compile and analyze labor data for integration into estimate files.
- Document any special considerations or conditions noted during the takeoff process.
- Assist in developing project schedules and resource allocation for bids.
- Support the preparation of turnover meetings with project managers and assist in the documentation process.
- Help with the estimation of ongoing work as required by the construction team.
- Maintain organized and accurate records for all estimated projects.
- Build and sustain relationships with vendors and subcontractors to foster collaboration.
- Gain proficiency in the Trimble Auto Bid Estimating System through ongoing training.
- Continuously enhance skills in estimating HVAC and Plumbing projects.
- Effectively manage time and meet deadlines in line with estimating schedules.
- Contribute to the drafting of scope letters for project bids.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or completion of a Technical School program.
- Experience in estimating costs for mechanical or plumbing systems is advantageous.
- Ability to foster a collaborative work environment that enhances employee morale and productivity.
- Exceptional organizational skills, time management capabilities, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Proven track record of initiative, prioritization, and ownership of responsibilities.
- Maintain a flexible and positive approach to assignments.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, experience with Microsoft Outlook for communication and scheduling, and familiarity with Trimble Auto Bid Estimating System is a plus.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve issues effectively.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and adherence to company policies.
