Diesel Mechanic/Technician I

Job Summary:
Penske Truck Leasing is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic/Technician I to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet of vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
- Repair and troubleshoot major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
- Keep your work area clean and safe
- Use Penske's tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
- Learn new skills through Penske's technician training
- Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
- Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
- Experienced using all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools)
- Valid driver's license required, CDL preferred
- The ability to solve problems
- Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
- Basic computer skills
