Job Summary

The Network Administrator II provides critical support for all University infrastructural-level IT systems, encompassing wired and wireless networks, servers, virtualization, storage, and data center technologies. This role involves comprehensive planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Maintenance: Ensure the stability and security of networking systems through regular patches and configuration updates.
  • Documentation and Troubleshooting: Accurately document system configuration and network topology, and effectively troubleshoot and manage wired and wireless networks, including switches, routers, DNS/DHCP, enrollment systems, surveillance cameras, and firewalls.
  • System Installation and Configuration: Install and configure new systems and equipment to meet the evolving needs of the University.
  • Equipment Repurposing: Repurpose existing equipment to address network shortfalls and optimize resource utilization.
  • Research and Development: Continuously research and explore new and innovative ideas for managing the campus network, ensuring it remains secure, efficient, and effective.
  • Security Reviews: Conduct thorough security reviews and implement configuration changes at the border firewall to maintain a robust security posture.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in the IT field or 5 years of experience in network administration.
  • Technical Expertise: Practical, hands-on working knowledge of network switches, routers, Aruba wireless, subnetting, storage systems, and virtualization.
  • Communication and Documentation: Excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and maintain accurate records.
