About the Role

**Operations Oriented Financial Leader**

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to join our team at Commerce Properties. As a key member of our Executive Leadership team, you will be responsible for directing the organization's financial planning and accounting practices, as well as its relationship with lending institutions, shareholders, and the financial community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the organization
  • Oversee the financial activities of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Develop and implement financial programs and supporting information systems
  • Manage the accounting team and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies to improve productivity and accuracy of corporate data
  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership team to identify and execute quarterly, one-year, and three-year goals
  • Establish and maintain internal control safeguards
  • Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, investment analyses, and information reports
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures
  • Manage the company's financial, liability, and property risk exposures
  • Work with insurance brokers to obtain annual insurance renewals
  • Evaluate and control the organization's fundraising plans and capital structure
  • Work with lenders to obtain short- and long-term financing
  • Manage the Treasury function to realize best return on cash while guarding against loss
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations
  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems
  • Provide oversight on the budgeting process and perform variance analysis of budget to actual
  • Analyze cash flow and expenses to guide business leaders
  • Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas
  • Create and maintain forward-looking financial models
  • Identify ways to improve profitability
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining accuracy of standard operating procedures on key account functions
  • Maintain confidentiality

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 10 years related experience in senior-level accounting and finance position
  • Experience in property management or real estate a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experienced team leader and ability to take initiative
  • Possesses organizational skills and ability to prioritize
