Job Summary

The School of Lifelong Learning at Jackson State University is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies to join our team. As a tenure-track faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching, research, and service. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about adult education and training, and who can contribute to our mission of providing high-quality education to non-traditional students.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a 4-4 course load for Fall and Spring sessions, including interdisciplinary courses at the college level.
  • Advise non-traditional adult learners, transfer students, and other students as needed.
  • Actively engage in recruitment and retention, program assessment and evaluations, and program development.
  • Conduct research and publish scholarly work in areas related to adult education and interdisciplinary studies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair or dean.
Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Adult Education, or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.
  • Effective teaching experience at the college level, with a focus on interdisciplinary courses.
  • Active research agenda and/or a clearly defined research plan related to adult education and interdisciplinary studies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering online instruction to undergraduates and graduate students.
  • Record of advising non-traditional adult learners, transfer students, and other students as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality service to students and the community.
  • Academic research experience in areas related to adult education and interdisciplinary studies.
