The School of Lifelong Learning at Jackson State University is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies to join our tenure-track faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for a scholar with a passion for adult education and interdisciplinary research to contribute to our mission of providing high-quality education and training to non-traditional students.
Key Responsibilities- Teach a 4-4 course load in interdisciplinary studies, including online and in-person courses
- Advise non-traditional adult learners, transfer students, and other students as needed
- Conduct research and publish in areas related to adult education and interdisciplinary studies
- Develop and implement programs to support recruitment, retention, and graduation of non-traditional students
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to assess and evaluate programs and services
- Terminal degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Adult Education, or a closely related field
- Effective teaching experience at the college level
- Active research agenda and/or a clearly defined research plan related to adult education and interdisciplinary studies
- Experience with online instruction and program development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with advising non-traditional adult learners
- Record of academic research and publications in areas related to adult education and interdisciplinary studies
- Experience with program redesign and development
- Experience implementing interventions to support recruitment, retention, and graduation of non-traditional students
