Job Responsibilities:
- The Service Operations Specialist is tasked with ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of oxygen and nitrogen production facilities within the designated area. This role presents both challenges and rewards, requiring strong problem-solving skills in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and production processes.
- Dependability is crucial for this position. The specialist will work independently, demonstrating initiative and self-motivation, often without direct supervision. Availability for emergency call-outs is essential.
- Responsibilities include managing all operational aspects of the air separation facilities, from routine tasks to troubleshooting production issues. The specialist will maintain and operate compressors, pumps, valves, motors, and associated equipment, ensuring smooth plant operations.
- The role demands the ability to resolve various mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process control challenges. Decision-making will involve coordinating interrelated tasks and developing innovative solutions to moderately complex, non-routine problems.
- Ongoing training and mentorship will be provided to enhance knowledge and skills. The specialist will receive support from supervisors, lead technicians, engineers, sales, and other technical personnel. Occasional travel to assist with facilities outside the primary area may be required.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
- Experience in air separation or similar complex process control environments.
- Proficiency in instrumentation and control systems.
- General maintenance experience with industrial machinery.
- Familiarity with compressors and their maintenance.
- Background in industrial mechanical maintenance.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems or electrician experience.
- Experience in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
- Candidates from military technical backgrounds such as Machinist Mates, Electrician Mates, Gas Turbine Technicians, and Boiler Technicians are highly valued.
- A strong commitment to safety and adherence to procedures.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Ability to use volt-ohm meters, calibration tools, and data collection devices.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of industrial equipment.
- Understanding of process control and ability to interpret schematics.
- Familiarity with computers, Microsoft applications, and process control systems.
- Experience with maintenance documentation and compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and analyzers.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively plan work activities.
