About the Role

The Emergency Response Technician Supervisor (ERTS) at BlueOval SK is responsible for managing emergency response operations within a manufacturing environment. ERT Supervisors play a vital role in ensuring a safe workplace for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the activities of ERT I and ERT II personnel.
  • Adapt to the needs of the manufacturing facility, remaining prepared to address structural and medical emergencies.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of incident reports before the end of each shift.
  • Meet timekeeping requirements effectively.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for all shift ERT I and ERT II personnel for management review.
  • Act as the primary incident commander during emergency responses.
  • Execute rescue operations for individuals affected by fire incidents.
  • Respond to fire alarms, chemical spills, and other emergency reports.
  • Perform high-angle and confined space rescue operations.
  • Identify hazards in confined spaces and issue necessary entry permits.
  • Manage hazardous material releases, including chemicals or gases from fire events.
  • Implement defensive measures to contain spills and prevent contamination.
  • Evacuate areas at risk of hazardous material exposure.
  • Administer first aid to injured or ill personnel.
  • Transport injured individuals to appropriate medical facilities.
  • Utilize life-saving techniques based on training.
  • Maintain and inspect fire protection and life safety equipment regularly.
  • Conduct audits and inventory checks of life safety equipment and vehicles.
  • Facilitate drills and simulations to prepare for industrial fire scenarios.
  • Operate firefighting equipment during emergency responses.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and use of firefighting tools.
  • Perform additional life safety duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current certification as Firefighter I/II from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, medical staff, fire departments, rescue teams, law enforcement, and the public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict situations with sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Successfully complete physical agility requirements for ERT.
  • Apparatus Operator (Pumper/Aerial) certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference for candidates verified as EMT Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic, along with Firefighter and NFPA 1670 disciplines.
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred, to be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Driving Requirements (Optional):

  • Valid driver's license.
  • No convictions for Driving Under the Influence, possession of drugs, or driving with a suspended/revoked license in the past five years.
  • No more than two "at fault" motor vehicle accidents in the past year.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess the physical agility to walk, climb, crawl, bend, push, pull, lift, and balance over challenging terrain.
  • Good physical stamina and endurance required, with the ability to lift and carry loads exceeding 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
  • Ability to see across different color spectrums; eyesight must be correctable to 20/20 in at least one eye.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity necessary for operating equipment and instruments.
  • Ability to distinguish between normal and abnormal physical conditions through various observations.
  • Pass pre-hire physical and drug screening.
  • May be required to complete physical tests to validate fitness.
