Position Overview:

Under the direct guidance of the Security Supervisor, this role is essential for ensuring the protection, safety, and security of the assets, staff, guests, and all visitors within the casino environment during assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguard the assets of Desert Diamond Casinos & Entertainment.
  • Oversee all safety operations throughout the casino during the entire shift.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports, including patrol logs.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the casino premises and surrounding parking areas.
  • Monitor the parking area to identify unauthorized individuals and take appropriate action if needed.
  • Collaborate with the on-duty Security Supervisor/Lead Security Officer regarding any detected violations or situations requiring investigation.
  • Engage with patrons to assure them of their safety through visible presence.
  • Work in conjunction with Law Enforcement Agencies to apprehend individuals involved in criminal activities.
  • Provide information and assistance to guests as required.
  • Administer First Aid/CPR until advanced medical assistance arrives.
  • Offer escorts for guests when necessary.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in clean and operational condition, and uniforms are tidy and complete.
  • Adhere to departmental standard operating procedures and casino policies.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records on a daily basis.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures of Desert Diamond Casinos & Entertainment, including Internal Controls (ICs).
  • Investigate reports of accidents and injuries within the casino, communicating findings to the on-duty Security Supervisor/Lead Security Officer and/or Risk Safety and Workers Compensation Manager for proper documentation.
  • Facilitate the movement of personnel in and out of security areas.
  • Assist with the transportation of money exchanges, fills, credits, and payouts within the casino.
  • Foster good communication with team members to maintain a positive and professional work atmosphere.
  • Contribute to team efforts and achieve related results as required.
  • May be assigned to work in the Security Dispatch Center as needed.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures in casino areas.
  • Deliver exceptional internal and external guest service by engaging with and assisting guests and team members.
  • Execute additional duties as required or directed.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, with a minimum of two (2) years as an Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic required.
  • Preferred: Six (6) months of security experience.
  • No arrests in the past year except for minor traffic violations.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and be insurable for driving.
  • Certification in CPR and either certification or licensure as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) or Paramedic is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must maintain an EMT license.
  • Understanding of safety operations, procedures, and public/customer service skills in a casino setting.
  • Familiarity with applicable tribal, federal, county, and local laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in business English, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills are essential.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in basic English.
  • Demonstrate outstanding guest service consistently.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Exhibit moral character, honesty, tact, and fairness when interacting with others.
  • Analyze situations and determine appropriate actions.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires regular walking and standing for extended periods, using hands for handling or feeling, reaching with hands and arms, and effective communication. Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be necessary. The individual must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. A standard fitness test may be required.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily conducted in a casino environment, which may include exposure to second-hand smoke and elevated noise levels. Flexibility for evening, graveyard, holiday, and weekend shifts is essential, along with the potential for extended hours and irregular schedules.
