Position Summary

The Mortgage Loan Servicing Specialist II operates under the guidance of the Senior Manager – Loan Servicing Operations. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of data related to new loans entered into the servicing software. The Specialist is responsible for reviewing accounts to ensure loans are categorized correctly by type, investor, investor pool, and billing methods, including applicable escrow schedules.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage the dedicated New Loans email inbox, ensuring timely tracking and input of new or transferred loan data into the servicing system within the month of funding or transfer. Maintain electronic records of all loan documents and correspondence as necessary.

2. Conduct verification reviews on data and documents for each loan to ensure the integrity of information added to the system.

3. Review and input escrow details for new and transferred loans, including insurance and taxes, ensuring monthly escrow payments are accurately set up in the system.

4. Process import events to transition closed and funded loans into the servicing system, requesting additional information or documents from relevant departments as needed.

5. Perform research and follow-up on outstanding review findings, reporting results to investors, originators, lenders, and other operational areas as appropriate.

6. Generate welcome letter packages as required, retaining electronic copies on the network drive for each loan. Contact new borrowers to confirm they are informed about their loan details and payment options.

7. Assist with payment processing, including daily payment returns, deposit links, mailed checks, ACH transactions, and related documentation.

8. Support the setup of new recurring ACH payments for Consumer Lending loans and manage ACH change requests, payoff requests, and verification of mortgage requests.

9. Process monthly Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) loan reporting through the online Valeri portal.

10. Assist with additional tasks as necessary to ensure the Loan Servicing Department's daily operations and requirements are met.

Core Competencies

1. Proficient in computer software including MS Word, Excel, Crystal report writer, and Loan Servicing software.

2. Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform basic calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

3. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in English.

4. Ability to manage multiple tasks, with a strong aptitude for numbers and excellent analytical skills.

5. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information while working under pressure to meet deadlines.

6. Flexibility to adapt to changing workplace priorities and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Experience & Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in mortgage loan servicing or a related financial office environment, with a focus on team-oriented operations.

Certifications: None required.
