Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) is seeking a Full-Time Authorization Specialist to support our Access Center.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Compensation: MRA provides competitive starting pay based on qualifications and experience, ranging from $18.00/hr to $22.38/hr.
Position Responsibilities:
The Authorization Specialist is accountable for securing authorizations for all orders in their designated work queue and conducting outbound scheduling calls to patients for the physicians and offices they oversee.
- Manage all orders that enter the authorization coordinator work queue.
- Oversee daily orders placed by referring physicians and ordering groups through the work queue and order depots.
- Schedule appointments with patients for daily orders and follow up with those who have received prior messages.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and initiate the authorization process.
- Monitor the status of pending authorizations.
- Address denied cases by collaborating with physician offices and pursuing reconsiderations, appeals, or peer-to-peer options.
- Assist with inbound calls when necessary for operational efficiency.
- May be required to input written/non-EPIC orders into the system.
- Potentially enter demographic and insurance details into the system.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a call center environment is preferred.
- Experience in customer service within a healthcare context is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EPIC experience is a plus).
- Must exhibit a friendly demeanor and demonstrate empathy towards patients.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
- Willingness to undertake new responsibilities as operational needs evolve.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
