Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate individual who is eager to make a significant impact within a mission-driven organization. The Director of Special Events plays a crucial role in our culture, which emphasizes our core values: respect, compassion, support, teamwork, collaboration, accountability, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and propose the annual special event strategy, including event selection, sponsorship options, scheduling, and venues, aimed at generating over $1M in event revenue.
- Set specific event goals in collaboration with the VP of Development; devise strategies, plans, and budgets to enhance fundraising outcomes and maximize participation; create and manage event financial plans, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Recruit, lead, and collaborate with event chairs, committees, and volunteers.
- Work closely with philanthropy advisors to cultivate, solicit, and maintain relationships with event sponsors.
- Manage a portfolio of event donors.
- Oversee all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, vendor contracts, catering, and day-of operations. Negotiate contracts with external vendors and ensure legal compliance.
- Handle all event-related communications, including drafting sponsorship proposals, invitations, and acknowledgments. Collaborate with the Communications team to prepare promotional materials.
- Ensure risk management for events, including securing necessary insurance and adhering to security protocols.
- Stay informed about local community events to avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Supervise the Special Events Coordinator and maintain accurate digital records for each event.
- Ensure database accuracy for event communications and registrations.
- Manage the timely filing of necessary permits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Experience in special events management is essential; fundraising experience is preferred.
- Proven attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with Salesforce is advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting salary: $75,000 per year.
- Eligible for benefits starting the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
- Paid Time Off: 3 weeks of PTO, 10 recognized holidays, 1 personal day, and a birthday day off.
