Position Overview

As a key member of our design team, the Civil Engineer will be responsible for the planning and design of both small and large airport infrastructure projects. This includes stormwater management, pavement assessments, airfield pavement design, site and facility layouts, and utility system design. The role also encompasses the preparation of engineering reports, construction documents, project specifications, and permit applications at various governmental levels, along with providing oversight during the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with team members to assist in various design components to achieve project objectives involving conventional plans, surveys, and structures.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including plans, specifications, and engineering estimates, by collecting and organizing relevant data.
  • Evaluate and adapt standard engineering techniques and criteria to project assignments, solving problems with guidance.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed engineering tasks, managing multiple projects efficiently to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Contribute to project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, bid documents, project reports, and studies.
  • Work under general direction, receiving guidance on complex programs and modified techniques.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and project team members through collaboration and communication.
  • Participate in project meetings, presenting specific engineering aspects as needed.
  • Occasional work during nights and weekends may be required with little notice.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in Aviation, Transportation, or Site Development.
  • Experience in construction administration is desirable.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong skills in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of FAA Advisory Circulars and Federal/State funding processes is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the airport community in Florida is advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure office environment.
  • Proficient in English, including grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
Licensure
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Florida Professional Engineer licensure or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
Work Environment

The position typically takes place in a comfortable office setting, with occasional site visits in outdoor environments.

Physical Requirements

The role involves regular communication, extended periods of sitting, and occasional physical activities such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Personal Protective Equipment

As per client site protocols, the candidate will be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves, hard hats, safety vests, and other necessary tools.
