Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Supervisor to join our team. As a Pharmacy Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our pharmacy service, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a team of pharmacists and technicians to ensure efficient and effective delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Monitor and analyze pharmacy operations to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize patient care and safety.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless integration of pharmacy services with other departments.
  • Develop and maintain a system for monitoring and reporting adverse drug reactions and other safety concerns.
  • Provide education and training to pharmacists and technicians on new policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
  • Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
  • At least 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
  • Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions.
  • Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards pertaining to pharmacy.
Working Conditions

This position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive status. The health-related positions in VA are covered by Title 38, and are not covered by the Schedule A excepted appointment authority.
