Position Overview:

The salary for this role is $10,235.00 Monthly.

The County of Thurston is in search of a highly skilled and driven individual for the role of Lead Financial Analyst.

In this capacity, the incumbent will engage in advanced professional budget formulation and fiscal analysis tasks. This role entails frequent assessments of the County's financial status to support decision-making and reporting throughout the fiscal year, as well as involvement in the preparation and dissemination of the comprehensive county budget.

This position offers guidance and serves as a valuable resource to various county offices and departments on a wide array of financial matters, including both capital and operational budgets, along with exploring financial alternatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Budget & Fiscal Manager in the development, justification, and presentation of the biennial operating and capital budgets to the County Commissioners and the public.
  • Preparing, interpreting, and analyzing diverse information, data, and reports, as well as work papers, communications, schedules, and statements from internal departments and external agencies, providing recommendations based on findings.
  • Developing, analyzing, and modifying computerized financial models and generating financial reports.
  • Evaluating changes in operating or capital fund balances and compiling comprehensive reports on the financial health of all operating and capital funds, proposing solutions to identified issues.
  • Supporting departmental and office budget personnel in the formulation of operating and capital budgets.
  • Reviewing departmental and office operating and capital budgets, recommending budget allowances, and serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Fostering inclusive and respectful working relationships that promote a sense of belonging for all employees and community members.
  • Utilizing effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and the public to exchange information and receive work direction.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with departmental staff and the general public.
  • Upholding regular attendance and punctuality.
