The AWS Intelligence Initiative program is on the lookout for dedicated builders to embark on a distinctive journey alongside some of the most talented engineers and technical experts in the field.

Participants will engage in a comprehensive 3-6 month training and development program designed to immerse them in operational culture, refine their technical abilities through a practical job path curriculum, and gain a holistic understanding of our technology. This program offers dedicated mentorship and support from our alumni network.

We are in search of highly driven individuals eager to master operational excellence and troubleshoot intricate system operations, with a keen interest in developing their knowledge of Linux, networking, and cloud services.

Upon completion of our program, participants will transition into engineering roles within the AWS Region Reliability organization.

About Region Reliability

Region Reliability serves as the foundation for continuous engineering enhancement by promoting efficiencies across AWS through innovation, automation, and operational excellence.

This newly established organization aims to standardize operational practices across AWS, minimize redundant efforts, and enhance operational excellence and best practices for AWS Amazon Dedicated Cloud Regions, ultimately simplifying the experience for our customers and AWS Builders.

In this role, you will be tasked with executing a defined set of responsibilities on schedule while identifying and addressing ineffective processes.

You will learn to implement well-defined technical solutions following established Standard Operating Procedures, gaining insights from more experienced builders in your vicinity.

As you acquire technical experience, you will begin to recognize operational issues and either resolve or escalate them promptly.

Why This Role Matters

This position offers a unique opportunity to operate and engineer systems at a grand scale, providing invaluable experience in cloud computing.

You will collaborate with intelligent, passionate individuals who share a commitment to cloud computing and understand that exceptional service is vital to customer success.

As you grow, you will become an expert in diagnosing, responding to, measuring, and automating AWS Services platforms. You will play a key role in supporting and streamlining the operational scalability that sustains the platform's rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain a deeper understanding of AWS service teams, capabilities, and functionalities.
  • Seek straightforward solutions to complex issues or processes.
  • Explore the intricate workings of AWS and how its services interact.
  • Collaborate with AWS engineers globally to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot over 150 services.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to enhance team performance.
  • Provide essential support to the U.S. Intelligence Community.

A Day in the Life

As an AWS Operations Associate, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless and efficient operation of our AWS infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility will involve executing a defined set of operational tasks on a schedule while learning to identify any ineffective processes or technical implementations that may impede performance, availability, or maintainability.

You will develop an understanding of operational risks and learn to mitigate unnecessary risks.

Working alongside senior engineers, you will familiarize yourself with the identification and resolution of operational concerns, ensuring timely escalation when necessary.

Supporting Mission-Critical Workloads

This role requires presence in a Remote Managed Facility (RMF) five days a week to carry out your assigned tasks.

Over time, you will gain the capability to execute narrow, well-defined workflow processes and become adept at utilizing available tools.

An AWS Operations Associate will learn to resolve straightforward obstacles by leveraging existing runbooks and effectively communicate any arising issues to peers and leaders.

On this team, you will also learn to identify the root causes of issues and provide constructive feedback to workflow owners.

You will develop strong operational and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to work independently on defined tasks while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • 1+ years of work experience requiring a security clearance.
  • Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
