Tubman is in search of a dedicated Legal Support Specialist to become an integral part of our collaborative team, committed to advancing the agency's mission, vision, and values. This role primarily focuses on providing essential services within Ramsey County.

The Legal Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring that clients, particularly those affected by interpersonal violence, receive comprehensive advocacy and assistance during both criminal and civil court proceedings. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the legal services program's outcomes and the overall mission of the agency. Responsibilities include offering clients pertinent information regarding court procedures, safety planning, and supplying legal professionals with insights related to domestic cases, either directly or on behalf of the client. Additionally, this role involves assisting in the preparation and submission of protection orders, as well as providing valuable resources and referrals.

Legal Support Specialists frequently engage in the recruitment and mentorship of volunteers and interns who provide advocacy services. This position also fosters professional relationships with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and other judicial personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two or more years of direct service experience in legal service programs.
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant work/life experience in a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with insurance.

  • Experience working with victims of interpersonal violence.

Reports to: Legal Advocacy Manager

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position is $23.50 per hour.
