Position Overview:

The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and The University of Vermont Medical Group is seeking a Board Eligible/Certified Physiatrist for a full-time faculty position. This role can be filled at the assistant, associate, or full professor level on the clinical scholar pathway.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care in an inpatient acute rehabilitation setting.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring of residents and medical students.
  • Participate in shared weekend and holiday coverage among a team of six physicians.
  • Provide acute care consultations and manage outpatient prosthetic/orthotic needs.

Our inpatient rehabilitation service operates a 35-bed unit, supported by full-time hospitalist medicine professionals. Strong interdisciplinary collaborations exist with Orthopaedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Acute Care Surgery, among other specialties.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must be a board certified or board eligible physiatrist with a passion for comprehensive Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). A demonstrated interest in teaching is essential.

The University of Vermont Medical Center serves as the primary teaching hospital for The University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine, recognized as a level I trauma and tertiary referral center serving northern Vermont and upstate New York.
